About John S. Ikonomidis, MDJohn Ikonomidis, MD, PhD, is an American Board of Thoracic Surgery certified cardiothoracic surgeon who specializes in adult cardiac surgery, and the Medical Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. His clinical expertise spans the full spectrum of advanced cardiac procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valvular repair and replacement, complex aortic surgery (arch reconstruction and dissection repair), arrhythmia surgery, septal myectomy, ECMO, and mechanical ventricular support. He has a particular interest in complex and reoperative cardiac procedures.Dr. Ikonomidis completed his cardiothoracic residency at Stanford University in California, following general surgical residency training at the University of Toronto, Canada. He also earned a PhD in cardiac physiology at the same university.
