Anastenaria — annual, May 21 (feast of Saints Constantine and Helen), lasting about 3 days. Ancient ecstatic firewalking ritual where 'anastenarides' dance barefoot on red-hot coals carrying icons, to Thracian lyra and drum. Performed in Langadas (near Thessaloniki), Agia Eleni (Serres), Meliki (Imathia) and Mavrolefki (Drama).
